An Art-Deco inspired wedding venue in Venice, the iconic Hotel Excelsior provided Andrea and Shao-Wei with a timeless backdrop to their Italian love story. With sweeping views across the Venetian lagoon, intricate architecture, and the most sumptuous interiors, it effortlessly set the stage for a romantic occasion like no other. Andrea and Shao-Wei’s wedding day unfolded in the very heart of this historic city, and it truly was an honour to work with them to bring their vision to life.
From the very moment The Wedding Studio began working with Andrea and Shao-Wei, it became apparent that the couple wanted a fusion of three elements, including Italian culture, Asian tradition and the timeless elegance of the famous Stucchi Room at Hotel Excelsior (which is where the couple were planning to host their wedding dinner).
The bride, Shao-Wei, was born in Taiwan, so we collaborated with the couple to focus on key elements that they felt were important to be showcased throughout their celebration, namely the colour of red and the round shape. Red is a key colour in Asia, symbolising happiness, good luck and richness, while the shape of a circle recalls the ‘eternal love’.
Following a collection of detailed mood-boards and concept creations, we decided to use the red colour palette and circle shape with refinement, using the red shade delicately so not to clash with the softness that the Stucchi room has to offer. We proposed a divine colour palette of red, caffe latte and light pink as a subtle nod towards the Asian culture, while still highlighting the Stucchi Room.
As luxury wedding planners in Italy, we endeavored to create a unique arrangement for Andrea & Shao-Wei’s wedding that married the elegance of the venue with Asian traditions. A floral pattern was present in the couple’s initial Save the Dates, the welcome card, on the tablecloth and on the menu, working seamlessly together to create a romantic aesthetic that felt effortlessly coordinated.
The bride-to-be looked an utter vision in a classic Pronovias gown from the ‘Marchesa’ collection, that was undeniably romantic and looked as though it had been designed purely for her. Made from Mikado fabric, with a full skirt and embroidered ribbon on the back, her wedding dress was also a nod to the Asian culture. Shao-Wei’s hair was worn in an elegant up-do with a sparkling embellishment that looked beautiful alongside her gown. Meanwhile, Andrea looked incredible handsome in black tie attire, which was the perfect choice for a luxe celebration at Hotel Excelsior.
The team at Il Fiore all’Occhiello worked their floral magic, adding further to the bespoke elements of their wedding day that we had created for Andrea and Shao-Wei. Blooms included Café Au Lait Dahlia, Quicksand Roses, Karma Choc Dahlia, Red Charme Peony, Red and Pink Carnations and a hint of White Orchid for the bridal bouquet. The petals were pillow-soft while the colour palette was simply delectable, working in harmony with the bride’s aisle style and the backdrop of this Venetian wedding venue.
Hotel Excelsior boasts an unrivalled outdoor space, which Andrea and Shao-Wei fell in love with for their ceremony, boasting views that seemed to stretch forever. For their ceremony floral design, two side arches framed the main ceremony space, featuring a cascading waterfall of red and pink carnations that tied the colour scheme together beautifully. A long white carpet that created their aisle was styled to perfection with charming flower compositions, creating a whole vibe with varying colours and shades that immersed guests in Asian culture.
Il Fiore all’Occhiello also curated majestic high flower installations that were used on the guest tables during the wedding dinner, accompanied with softly flickering candles and small vases. Above the tables, twinkling chandeliers added to the luxury of the occasion, with floor-to-ceiling windows and ornate ceiling detailing.
The entire aesthetic of Andrea and Shao-Wei’s elegant wedding at Hotel Excelsior followed a fil-rouge of the same floral pattern, including tablecloths that were tailor-made with white velvet fabric and pink detailing. Here at The Wedding Studio Italy, we adored every second of working with Andrea & Shao-Wei to curate an opulent and elegant event for their love story to shine.
We have officially opened our diaries for 2024/25, so we welcome you to enquire if you are looking for a style-conscious wedding planner for your Italian destination wedding.
